MORE tells beautiful stories about people, places and objects with a new way of writing about photography and a new tempo." P. Manoury, editor-in-chief and artistic director. Founded in 1973 by Serge July and Jean-Paul Sartre, Libération is a daily newspaper that perpetuates the spirit and ideals established during the May 68 movement. It originated from the desire to create a populist, left wing, independent and engaged newspaper. The first issue was released in kiosques on the 22nd of May 1973 and would become the start of what would be an interactive relationship with its audience. The daily would evolve into a more standardised newspaper with International,Cultural and Media sections, but was still able to stand out from the crowd thanks to its exceptional front pages and its portraits. A new formula would be implemented in January, the daily would see a significant overhaul, with a focus on predicting futur trends and initiating debates, all the while maintaining its initial strength: journalistic innovation.
“In France, one is not an actor if one has not had one’s picture taken by the Harcourt Studios” asserts Roland Barthes in Mythologies, 1957.
Studio Harcourt Paris has a history that has been part of the collective unconscious for more than 80 years. Created in 1934 by an exceptional woman, Cosette Harcourt, the Lacroix brothers, press magnates, and Nina Ricci’s son, it draws its inspiration in the glamorous roots of the black and white cinema and rapidly becomes the place to be for celebrities.
True visual memory of the 20th century, Studio Harcourt Paris still creates portraits of anonymous and celebrities. “Haute-couture” portrait, the photographer such as an artist creates a unique image, emotional and timeless.
Each portrait reveals as story, skilful alchemy between light and shadow. Light ennobles the sacred pledge of eternity, shadows sublimate the secrets of the unconscious.
The ¡ Picasso ! anniversary exhibition presented on the five floors of Hôtel Salé illustrates the continuity and deep unity of the collection and the history of the museum. The Musée National Picasso-Paris has the world’s largest public collection of Pablo Picasso’s work, covering all his creative periods and all fields, including “Picasso’s Picassos” straight from the artist’s studio. Pablo Picasso’s personal archives and the museum’s archives are at the heart of this exhibition project. They echo the masterpieces and, as most of them have never been exhibited before, give a different interpretation of the life, creative process and circulation of the master’s artworks
A large visual collage invites visitors to go on a tour of the five floors of Hôtel Salé starting with the history of the museum (basement), discover a chronological presentation of the major works (ground floor and 1st floor), then “Pablo Picasso – public figure” (2nd floor), and meet the “private Picasso” (3rd floor). This is a contemporary interpretation of Picasso’s works that alternates between rooms featuring dense displays and more intimate sequences.
The exhibition at a glance :
4 distinct parts: the history of the museum, the collection masterpieces, Picasso the public figure, Picasso the private figure
– 105 paintings (including 86 by Picasso)
– 92 sculptures (85 by Picasso) including 22 ceramic pieces, 13 objects and 1 textile artwork

In each of these establishments conjugates at the same time the big History and that of its territory. We take up with the encyclopedic knowlege there which is originally even of the notion of museum, but also the unique testimonies of the genius of the great masters as that of the anonymous craftsmen.

The idea of PyroPet came to designer Thorunn Arnadottir while studying at the Royal College of Art in London in 2011. The idea came to Thorunn when she was thinking about the way people use candles: "One day as I watched the chubby body of a jolly Santa Claus shaped candle slowly melt, deform and perish into a sad pool of wax, I wondered if I could elevate this common place ritual sacrifice into a true theatre of the macabre in wax."
She came up with the idea of embedding a metal skeleton within a cat shaped candle. A sinister form, lurking, biding it's time, waiting to be revealed. After exhibiting the cat candles (called “The Devil’s Pet” back then) in Milan and at her graduation show in London, they quickly gained a lot of attention on the internet. She joined forces with Dan Koval and they launched a Kickstarter campaign to finance their little startup. The campaign was a great success, in only 4 days they had reached their funding goal and at the end of the campaign they had reached 250% of their initial goal. Thorunn and Dan founded PyroPet Candle Company and are now selling the candles in shops and galleries all around the world.
